It’s a sculptural installation of over 300 ‘robotic’ plants which use Arduino microcontrollers, servo motors and light sensors to activate artificial plants. Congratulations to Tully Arnot awarded the Marten Bequest Travelling Art Scholarship for excellence in Sculpture. Arnot will use a proportion of funds for an exhibition later this year in Brisbane and for artist-residency in New York in 2016. AGUILAR installation presented at NUIT BLANCHE 2014

Nuit Blanche, the Parisian annual dusk to dawn Arts Festival features Aguilar's new installation 'Picture Element (2014)'. Picture Element is a giant pixel. The word pixel is a contraction of "picture" and "element". This work is an extension of an element that constitutes our digital screens. Picture Element makes visible what we do not see and yet is before our eyes. The choice of the shape of the pixel is an adaptation of a true pixel (Samsung) choosen for Aguilar's form of stained glass. Supported by Galerie Hussenot

II FUMO TOM FORD, is Matt Ellwood's first solo show at Melanie Rogers Gallery, Auckland consisting of a few new charcoal drawings and plywood sculptural works that continue his interest in ideologically satirical appropriations and incidental formalism. 27th of Aug - 20th of September 2014.

Franc Vila explained: "This acquisition award, apart from expanding and focusing my collection on the line to which I have directed it in recent years, is a major commitment to emerging art and the work the gallery does with this call, as it gives more visibility to young artists for the progression and recognition of their careers."

PEREZ HERNANDEZ at UPV in Valencia, Spain

Irene Perez Hernandez will participate in group show “Déjà vu. Reviews and Visual Desynchronization” at Universitat Politecnica de Valencia. The show will present works that have been aquired by the collection of the Fons d’Art i Patrimoni UPV since 2008. Exhibition continues until the 15th of July 2014.


French artist Antoine Aguilar will reside at Bundanon Trust 7-30th of April 2014. During his residency, Aguilar will work in the natural environment of the Shoalhaven river and its surrounding landscape to create a personal installation to document his experience in the 'landscape that influenced Arthur Boyd’s remarkable Shoalhaven river series'. The results will be on display as part of a new body of work in May 2014 at 223-225 Liverpool Street Darlinghurst.
