IRENE PEREZ HERNANDEZ
TERMS OF SERVICE
11/12 - 22/12/2012

This is the second solo show with London based artist Irene Perez Hernandez after her debut Mobile Nature at General Store. The artist continues to investigate repetition within a material culture were anything and everything transforms into an exchangeable commodity. Conventional understanding of potency is evidently and intentionally reconfigured and ridiculed in Terms of Service. The consumerist cycle, the transformation of human relations into objects of intrinsic value is metaphorically simplified and re-evaluated to question notions of self-determination, agency and abdication. I CLIMBED A MOUNTAIN
ANTICIPATION
27/11 - 08/12/2012

I CLIMBED A MOUNTAIN is a Sydney based artist collective. This collection of new paintings with a sound composition was originally to be titled Clinging To Debris, yet in a bid to relieve the violent connotations the title, Anticipation revealed itself. " It takes a bravel soul to choose Australia's so-called "boat people" as subject for painting. But in these intimate redernings in oil and graphite on board, the delicacy of touch by I climbed a mountain brings the plight of these people safely out of the territory of tabloids and talkback." - Michael Fitzgerald. AGAIN, ONCE OVER AGAIN
Quadrangle Sydney College of the Arts, Rozelle

A history of Modern Art is represented by a timeline consisting of 105 curatorial cards ( laser prints on foam core 23 x 15 cm ). These particular cards of prominent works of historical art feature words in the title that suggest repetition, "borrowed", "after" such and such, "copy" of such and such. Again, Once Over Again was a site specific piece that wrapped around the SCA interior quadrangle, University of Sydney. Read Press Release
